Sindhulimadi, April 30
A laboratory set up in Sindhuli for soil test three years ago has yet to come into operation for want of technicians and necessary chemicals for the tests.
The government established the laboratory, but did not manage the required technicians or allocate budget to buy chemicals for the lab. Agriculture Publicity Officer at Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Sindhuli, Bijaya Mandal said the government did not provide the required quota of technicians for the lab. “Many farmers come to the lab for soil test on a daily basis, but we have to send them back,” he added.
The soil laboratory was established by the then District Agriculture Development Office, Sindhuli, with the help of Soil Directorate three years ago.
“The laboratory came into operation for a very short period of time after Crops Conservation Officer Devendra Shahu was trained for the purpose. But soon after his transfer, the laboratory was closed,” Mandal said.
