RAJBIRAJ: Police on Sunday seized 2500 kilogram black pepper which was being smuggled to India from no man’s land near Saptari district on Saturday night.
According to District Police Office Saptari, a police team deployed from Area Police Office Sakhada seized a pick-up van after finding a huge quantity of black pepper being smuggled to India from Chinamasta Rural Municipality-2 in the border area.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajendra Bista said police arrested the driver Sunder Sutihar (28) of Chitaha Rural Municipality-6 in Sunsari district yesterday.
According to DPO, the driver, vehicle along with seized black pepper have been sent to Customs Office in Rajbiraj for further investigation.
The market value of the seized black pepper is around 0.8 million rupees.
