BARA: A majority of the wind-storm affected families are reeling under the shortage of utensils to cook food for their families as most of them were damaged during the devastating tornado in Bara and Parsa districts.
One of the victims, Binda Devi of Kaliya Sub-Metropolis-18 said, “We are borrowing utensils even to cook rice received in relief packages.” We have been using paper plates to eat our food, Devi shared her plight.
She further claimed that the Dalit and marginalized communities in Mangadawa are deprived of relief materials. Even in the distribution of relief material, there is discrimination.
“We are under the tent as our house was destroyed by the tornado. During the time of the disaster, we relied on fast food i.e noodles, biscuits, beaten rice but it’s difficult to rely on long periods,” Binda Devi lamented.
Narendra Das of Varbaliya in Pheta Rural Municipality-1 said especially women and children are terrified when the lightning strike with thunder in the sky.
A majority of the villagers’ confidence is low since the devastating tornado struck in the region, Das shared.
