DHANGADHI: A couple has been arrested on the charge of burning their infant daughter alive in Chukapani of Byas Rural Municipality-5, Darchula district.
According to the locals, Nabin Bista (24) and his wife Shila Bista allegedly killed their 10-month-old daughter Anushka Bista by setting her on fire.
The couple, on Thursday night, put their daughter into a stack of hay and put it ablaze, around 200 metres away from their home, said police.
Locals caught the couple while trying to flee after committing the heinous act and informed the police.
Police Inspector at Darchula District Police Office, Hikmat Bahadur Bohara said, the couple has been taken under police custody and further investigation in on-going.
