KAVREPALANCHOK: Sarita Dahal Dulal of Sipaghat in Mandan Deupur Municipality-6, whose body was discovered by the police on April 26, was murdered. Preliminary investigation of the police indicates that other members of her family, besides her husband, were involved in the killing.
Sarita’s spouse Sudip has already admitted that he was involved in the crime, and the circumstances surrounding the incident indicate that other family members also colluded in it, said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at Dhulikhel District Police Office, Deepak Giri.
Sarita’s father-in-law Pitambar Dulal, mother-in-law Ganga, brother-in-law Keshav and his wife Sangita are also in police custody for further investigations. Their remand had been extended by 10 days Monday.
The body of 25-year-old Sarita was found with bruises on her neck. She was found hanging in the first floor of the house.
During the investigation, it was revealed that she was murdered the previous night (on April 25) and the family approached the police at 10:00 am the following day claiming she had committed suicide.
However, Sarita’s elder brother Krishna Prasad Dahal of Chainpur, Mandan Deupur-4 sensed that something was wrong in the case and filed a First Information Report (FIR) on April 26, saying that she could have been murdered.
Acting upon the FIR, police arrested her husband and other family members on the same day. It has been learnt that they were planning to leave the village when the police caught them.
Local women staged demonstrations in front of the DPO, Dhulikhel on April 30 in a bid to exert pressure on the police for fair investigations into the case.
Police said the post-mortem report shows that she was not killed by a single person.
