President Bhandari arrives in home after China visit

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari who had embarked on the state visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, has returned home today.

Vice-president Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timalsina welcomed the President at the VIP lounge of the Tribhuvan International Airport.

Similarly, members of the Council of Ministers, Nepal Communist Party (NCP) parliamentary party’s deputy leaders, chiefs of security agencies among other high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present at the VIP lounge to receive the President.

Likewise, the president was welcomed by China’s President Xi Jinping on the premises of the Great Hall of the People, in Beijing, on Monday, where a bilateral meeting was held between both the Presidents.

Both the Presidents signed various agreements including transit and transport between Nepal and China.

President Bhandari also visited Lhasa, Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) of China and discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, in particular, relations with TAR Party Secretary of the Communist Party of China Committee of TAR of the People’s Republic of China Wu Yingjie, on Tuesday.

Earlier, this morning, President Bhandari was seen off at the Lhasa Gongar Airport by Executive Vice-chair of the Tibet Autonomous Region, Jiang Jie.

President Bhandari was accompanied by Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, chief minister of State 3 Dormani Poudel, MPs, high ranking government officials, Nepal’s Ambassador to China Leela Mani Paudyal, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi, representatives from private sector and mediapersons.
