KATHMANDU: To commemorate the upcoming World Press Freedom Day (May 3), the Federation of Nepali Journalists organised rallies in the major cities of the country, today.
The rallies were attended by journalists and civil rights workers who carried placards and slogans addressing the necessity for the state to value press freedom and expression.
The journalists, at the rallies, were seen criticising the government and political parties for not taking their issues seriously.
They also condemned the misuse of Electronic Transactions Act and an act on defamation to arrest journalists for publishing news in the digital platform, curbing press freedom.
