BIRGUNJ: Police in Parsa district today have made public two persons allegedly involved in kidnapping and killing of an eight-year-old boy.
The arrested have been identified as Bikash Sharma and Sikendra Sah Teli, who appeared to be in their mid-20s.
Body of the minor was found partly buried in Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City-25 of Bara district last night. Police identified the minor as Karan Sah, son of Shambhu Sah, resident of Pragatinagar in Birgunj Metropolitan City-3.
In a press conference organised at Parsa District Police Office, police said that the minor who had gone missing since 10:00 am, on May 24 was abducted from his home.
According to Chief of Police at the DPO, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rewati Dhakal, locals had informed police of the body found on Tuesday. SP Dhakal said that a police team deployed to the site noticed two Sharma and Sah Teli among the crowd who were acting indifferently and later tried to flee the scene. Immediately, police had to fire the gun to stop the evading suspects.
Meanwhile, the suspects injured below their waist have been referred to Narayani Sub Regional Hospital from Kalaiya Hospital where they were receiving treatment, informed police.
SP Dhakal said, “The preliminary investigation shows that the gang of the kidnappers had earlier demanded a ransom of Rs 500, 000 and later Rs 3 million for the release of the boy. However, they killed the minor when they did not get the ransom.”
It has been learnt that arrested Sharma had been living as a tenant in the neighbourhood of the victim.
The investigation into the case is underway while the search is on for the third one thought to be the gang member, said police.
