KATHMANDU: Nepali youth football team defeated Sri Lanka 2-0 in their second match of the SAFF U-15 Championship at the Kalyani Municipal Stadium, West Bengal, India on Friday.
After a goalless first half, Shashank Bohora and Ashim Rai scored one goal each for Nepal, who registered their first victory in the five-team tournament. Bohora put Nepal ahead in the 46th minute before Rai put the issue beyond doubt with the team’s second goal in the 83rd minute.
Nepal, who had faced a 5-0 defeat at the hands of hosts India two days ago, will take on defending champions Bangladesh on Tuesday before wrapping up the league round with a match against Bhutan on Thursday.
Top two teams will compete in the final.
