Dolakha, September 6
One person was killed and two others were injured when flood in Sundrawati Khola swept away a car at around 11:30pm in Kalinchowk Rural Municipality-1 of Dolakha district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Anish Pokhrel, 21, of Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-3. The floodwater had washed away the car Pokhrel and two others were travelling in. The car driver and another passenger were injured in the accident.
The ill-fated car was heading to Charikot from Singati Bazaar. DSP Man Bahadur Rai at District Police Office said police had fished out Pokhrel’s body trapped inside the car 100 metres down the road, this morning.
Locals had rescued injured Bikaj Pokhrel and car driver Pawan Poudel last night. They have been sent to Kathmandu for treatment, said DSP Rai. Bikaj Pokhrel is the youngest son of Tamakoshi Rural Municipality Chair Ishwor Chandra Pokhrel.
Last year, one youth and an elderly were killed after they were swept by the swollen Sundrawati Khola.
