Indian envoy, AG Agni Kharel inaugurate new school building in Jhapa

Kathmandu, September 2

Attorney General Agni Prasad Kharel and Ambassador of India to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri jointly inaugurated the school building of Shree Schoolchaun Higher Secondary School at Ward No 5 of Gauradaha Municipality, Jhapa, today.

Minister of Internal Affairs and Law of Province 1 Hikmat Kumar Karki, and Chairman of Jhapa District Coordination Committee Somnath Portel were also present during the inaugural ceremony along with political and official representatives of the federal government,   Province 1 government, community leaders and a large number of friends of the India-Nepal partnership, according to a press release issued by the Indian embassy here today.

Established in 1965 as a primary school and subsequently upgraded to higher secondary level in 2008, Shree Schoolchaun Higher Secondary School runs classes from grade I to XII. The school has around 1,150 students of which 60 per cent are girls.

Shree Schoolchaun Higher Secondary School is an educational institution of repute in Jhapa district. The new infrastructure, which has been constructed with Rs 35.70 million in grant from the Government of India, is a two storey building comprising 25 classrooms.

Other than classrooms, the building has a laboratory, library, principal’s office, staff room, accounts section, multipurpose-hall, separate toilets for boys and girls on each floor, and furniture.

The newly built infrastructure is expected to boost learning environment in the school.
