DPM Yadav stresses cleanliness of historic city

Janakpurdham, October 31

Deputy Prime Minister and Health and Population Minister Upendra Yadav has called all and sundry to keep Janakpur Sub-metropolitan City clean.

“While the government is carrying out publicity campaign for the upcoming Visit Year-2020 to promote Janakpur as a tourism destination, litter scattered all over the place has made me feel ashamed,” said the minister, asking the bodies concerned to do everything possible to clean up the city. “Since garbage problem could be the biggest hurdle for promotion of this city as a tourism destination, I hereby urge the authorities concerned to take initiative to clean up the city,” said Yadav.

The minister dwelt on the value of Mithila art and informed that the government was bringing forth an ambitious plan for preservation, publicity and promotion of art.

“Janakpur will start drawing tourists if we manage to keep this place clean and green. On top of it, the government is mulling over bringing different programmes to assist in the promotion of the ancient city,” said the health minister.

On the occasion, Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Yogesh Bhattarai, speaking at the Visit Year-2020 Inauguration Ceremony, chaired by Province 2 Industry Tourism Forest and Environment Minister Ram Naresh Raya, spoke on the need for cooperation among the governments of all three levels to make the visit year a success.

“There is no option to moving ahead by coordinating and cooperating with each other, if we are to make the visit year a success,” he said.
