Senior TV journalist Rajendra Dev Acharya dies at 61

KATHMANDU: Senior television journalist Rajendra Dev Acharya died, on Saturday night. He was 61.

Suffering from liver disease for a long time, journalist Acharya breathed his last in course of treatment at Norvic International Hospital in Kathmandu, according to News24 TV.

Acharya was discharged from Bir Hospital after receiving treatment at the hospital a few days ago. However, once more he suffered from the disease and was admitted to Norvic International Hospital where he breathed his last.

Acharya, who had pursued a career in broadcast journalism at Nepal Television since 1987, had been working as chief of News at News24 channel for the past two years.

He conducted an immensely popular programme ‘Chintan-Manan’ on News24 TV.

Acharya, who was active in authoring books had also been teaching journalism at Ratna Rajya Laxmi College.

He is survived by mother, wife and a daughter. His son died from a heart attack in USA, sometime ago.

It has been learnt that the last rites of Acharya will be performed at Pashupatinath, Aryaghat later today.
