Sajha Party wants Dr KC’s demands met

Pokhara, November 13

Sajha Party staged a demonstration in Pokhara today seeking the fulfilment of demands raised by the agitating Dr Govind KC.

Dr KC, who has long been fighting for improvement of the medical sector, had started his 17th round of hunger strike in Dadeldhura more than a week ago, calling on the government to implement the past agreements it had struck with him.

He has, however, halted his strike for the time being ‘in view of the adverse conditions that have arisen in the wake of the border encroachment by India in the Far-west.

Speaking at a corner meeting in Chipledhunga following the demonstration today, Sajha Party central member and upcoming by-election Kaski Constituency-2 candidate Rajani KC argued that the plight of people such as Dr KC who have been staging frequent strikes would not end until the state brought basic amenities, such as education, health and public transportation, under its control.

“Our party has always wanted health, public transportation and education to be the responsibility of the state,” she argued.
