KANCHANPUR: The number of Nepalis returning from across the Indian border is increasing steadily at the Gadda Chowki transit in Kanchanpur district.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rabindranath Poudel at Kanchanpur District Police Office (DPO) was quoted in Rastriys Samachar Samiti as saying that nearly, 3,000 Nepalis returned from India through the western transit point this morning.
The number has been increasing for the past three days. As a result, health personnel at the health desk are finding it difficult to screen the incoming Nepalis.
A health team from Bhimdatta municipality and Nepali Army are jointly carrying out the health screening due to the huge crowd of people in the border crossing.
The vehicular movement has also been affected. The entry of vehicles towards India through Gadda chowki transit in Kanchanpur has been closed. Only Indians wishing to return are being allowed to cross the border point, said DSP Poudel.
