Health centres across Nepal today witnessed the highest number of recoveries so far, with 1,814 COVID patients getting discharged after successfully fighting the contagion.
With today’s additions, the number of COVID patients who have recovered from the disease in Nepal stands at 28,941.
According to the health ministry, 63 per cent COVID patients in Nepal have already recovered. So far, 2,458 COVID patients have been discharged from health centres in Province 1, 8,127 in Province 2, 3,659 in Bagmati Province, 1,805 in Gandaki Province, 5,355 in Province 5, 2,279 in Karnali Province and 5,258 in Sudurpaschim Province.
Health authorities also diagnosed 980 new cases of COVID-19 today, of which 354 are from Kathmandu valley.
With today’s additions, Nepal’s virus caseload stands at 46,257.
“Among those diagnosed with COVID in the valley today, 290 from Kathmandu and 32 each from Bhaktapur and Lalitpur,” said Jageshwor Gautam spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population during the daily media briefing.
Of the others testing positive for the respiratory contagion today, 86 are from Sunsari, 73 from Bara, 44 from Surkhet, 35 from Rupandehi, 30 from Chitwan, 29 from Morang, 28 from Jhapa, 25 from Parsa, 22 from Syangja, 21 each from Kaski and Kailali, 19 from Palpa, 12 from Nawalparasi (East), 11 each from Arghakhanchi, Saptari and Achham, 10 each from Dhading, Bajhang and Dhanusha, eight from Rautahat, seven each from Dolakha and Tanahun, six each from Sankhuwasabha, Siraha, Bardiya and Banke, five each from Gorkha, Sarlahi and Jumla, four each from Kapilvastu and Pyuthan and three each from Baglung, Dang, Kanchanpur and Mahottari were also tested positive of the respiratory contagion.
COVID cases were also diagnosed in Sindhuli, Lamjung, Nawalparasi (West), Jajarkot, Dailekh, Dadeldhura, Udayapur, Okhaldhunga, Taplejung, Bhojpur, Kavrepalanchowk, Sindhupalchowk and Kalikot districts.
New cases were diagnosed today after screening 10,382 swab samples.
At present, Solukhumbu, Mustang, Dolpa, Mugu and Humla have no active COVID cases, while Morang and Sunsari in Province 1, Dhanusha, Parsa, Bara, Rautahat and Sarlahi in Province 2, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Chitwan in Bagmati Province and Rupandehi in Province 5 have more than 500 active COVID cases each.
The health ministry added that 27 people – 21 in Bagmati Province and three each in Province 1 and Province 5 — were on ventilator support, while 174 patients were undergoing treatment in intensive care units of health centres across Nepal, of which 109 are in Bagmati Province, 28 in Province 2, 20 in Province 5, nine in Province 1, five in Gandaki Province and three in Karnali Province.
