HETAUDA, DECEMBER 14
Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba today accused the incumbent government of trying to impose a totalitarian one-party Communist system in the country.
Addressing his party’s protest rally in Hetauda, Deuba stated that calls for the monarchy’s reinstatement were being made due to Prime Minister KP Oli’s ineptitude.
Deuba slammed the government and said that the Oliled government had failed to provide treatment to COV- ID-infected people and was mired in fighting for post and power. “The government’s incompetence and Oli’s tactics for sticking to power have led to widespread dissatisfaction and despair among people,” Deuba said.
Deuba said that his party had to take to the street as the government had failed to meet people’s needs and expectations in the republic system.
“We have protested against the government as it is trying to impose one-party rule and is mired in corruption and bribery,” Deuba charged.
Deuba said that the country had done away with monarchy due to former king Gyanendra Shah. “Monarchy will not come back to Nepal. The protest for reinstatement of monarchy is going on due to the Oli government’s incompetence,” Deuba added.
The Oli government’s inaction is causing people to believe that the republic system is incapable of delivering to the people. Against such a backdrop, some royalists are trying to trick people by saying that the new political system will do nothing for the people, which is not true, Deuba added.
Deuba held that the Oli government’s stated zero tolerance towards corruption and irregularities was simply a hoax.
