KATHMANDU, JANUARY 12
Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Bhanubhakta Dhakal said that the incumbent government led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was sincerely working to hold elections.
Minister Dhakal said this at a discussion with representatives of Nepal Civil Servants Organisation under the ministry here today. He said the government was working with full commitment to hold elections on April 30 and May 10.
“Elections will be held on the government declared dates. The main focus is now on the elections. The environment for elections has started building up in the country and everyone should cooperate in this regard,” he said.
Dhakal said that a faction of the country’s politics was afraid of going to the election and facing the voters.
He explained that the elections were being held to ensure political stability.
Minister Dhakal claimed that his tenure as the minister of Health and Population was successful although the situation was very challenging.
He claimed that he had carried out reformative works in the Ministry of Health and Population. Minister Dhakal argued that medicines and health equipment related to COVID-19 were brought at his initiative even when the situation was difficult to transport goods as the country was under lockdown. He claimed that the supply and management of health materials and equipment was done more efficiently than in some developed countries.
“A kind of revolution was brought in the health sector by inaugurating hospitals in the rural municipalities of the country amid a crisis situation,” he said. The government had inaugurated 315 hospitals in various rural municipalities throughout the country on December 1.
