Home Minister Thapa defends dissolution of Parliament

DHANKUTA, JANUARY 16

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa said that dissolution of the Parliament was an imperative for the sake of political stability.

Addressing a district-level meeting of party cadres in Dhankuta today, the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leader claimed that the prime minster had to dissolve the Parliament in the face of the threat of instability.

Thapa also alleged that party leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Jhalanath Khanal were obsessed with power and striving to create political instability by removing the prime minister through a no-confidence motion.

“In fact, the dissolution, which was necessary after our own party leaders kept throwing monkey wrenches at the government’s work, has also slammed shut the way to reinstate monarchy thereby bolstering the present system of federal republicanism,” the minister argued.

Further, reiterating the government’s vision to transform the country for the better, Thapa argued that midterm elections were an imperative to move the country towards the set goal.

NCP Province Chairperson Devraj Ghimire and around half-a-dozen party central members were present at the programme today.
