Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has signed an agreement with Wanwang Digital Energy for import, installation and maintenance of 50 electric vehicle charging stations across Nepal.
The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank, at a cost of Rs378 million and will be completed next year. The new budget incentivised surplus electricity consumption by repealing a controversial tax hike and excise duty on EV imports, while waiving five-year renewal taxes for those switching to EVs from petrol-diesel alternatives.
