The Indian Embassy, Nepal’s National Reconstruction Authority (NRA), the UNDP and the UNOPS on 15 November hosted an event in Kathmandu marking the end of the $150 million India-funded reconstruction of 50,000 houses in the Gorkha and Nuwakot districts affected by the 2015 earthquake.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief of Mission Namgya C. Khampa from the Indian Embassy, NRA CEO Shri Sushil Gyawali, as well as representatives of the NDRRMA and other governmental agencies as well as Nepal’s development partners.
Locally elected officials from Palungtar municipality in Gorkha and Bidur municipality in Nuwakot also attended the programme.
The Indian government is also working with the NRA for the construction of 71 education sector projects and 132 health institutions, as well as the restoration of 28 cultural heritage sites across 11 districts in Nepal.
