Nepali among winners of Microsoft award

A team of developers that includes a Nepali has won the Microsoft Imagine Cup World Championship 2022. V Bionic created ExoHeal, a solution that offers more affordable and faster rehabilitation to patients with hand paralysis. 

Ramin Udash was the Chief Technical Officer of the team that also included founder Zain A Samdani, head of design Faria Zubair, Asfia Jabeen Zubair. Udash developed the application and built the robotics. He is an alum of Rato Bangala School in Kathmandu.

ExoHeal combines robotics and neuroscience to offer affordable and 30% faster rehabilitation to patients with hand paralysis. This is achieved by incorporating the concepts of neuroplasticity into a rehabilitation routine that utilizes a robotic exoskeletal hand and a smartphone application to offer interactive and gamified therapy. 

The team won $50,000 in Azure credits, a cash prize of $100,000, and a mentoring session with Microsoft Chairman and CEO, Satya Nadella. Watch the award ceremony here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7J4zOQvfKSo

V Bionic is developing the final prototype for clinical testing later this year with physiotherapists and neuroscientists in India and Saudi Arabia to ensure that its functionality. The team plans to expand to other parts of the body starting with arms and eventually legs.
