Kathmandu, April 26
Barbara Foundation today awarded journalists Rudra Khadka and Arjun Oli with the Barbara Adams Investigative Journalism Award 2018 for their series of news reports involving irregularities in the Sikta irrigation project based in Banke.
Province 3 Governor Anuradha Koirala handed over the joint award to the duo at a programme organised in Kathmandu. Oli is a Nepalgunj-based journalist while Khadka reports from Kathmandu. Both journos are Nagarik daily’s correspondents. The award carries a purse of
Rs 100,001. Journalist Makar Shrestha bagged Honourable Mention for his news reports on irregularities in the Parliament. Shrestha received a cash prize of Rs 25,001.
On the occasion, the foundation announced to hike the purse of the Barbara Adams Investigative Journalism Award to Rs 300,000 and Honourable Mention to Rs 100,000 from next year. At the event, former chief election commissioner delivered a keynote speech on ‘Probity in Public Life.’
