BARA: Pregnant and new mothers of Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City-18 have been distributed chickens under a nutrition programme on Monday morning.
The chickens were distributed in ward 18 of the sub-metropolis under the Multisector Nutrition Plan (MSNP), informed Hari Kishore Sah, focal person of Nutrition and Food Security Programme.
The Programme, which targeted pregnant women and 1,000-day mothers, was organised in wards 7,10,18,20, and 21 of Jitpur-Simara Sub-Metropolitan City with the financial support of UNICEF. According to the sub-metropolis, the campaign aims to distribute 260 chickens per ward.
According to Sah, the nutrition programme also distributed various species of vegetable seeds to women after training in gardening, compost and chemical fertilisers.
Similarly, Sah also informed that the programme will give sanitation, hygiene, and nutrition-related awareness to adolescent girls and nutrition-related orientation to children and their parents.
In the programme, ward committee member Kamala Neupane, ward-level nutrition and food security directorate committee member Jayanti Shinkhada, and Tara Basnet, among others distributed chickens.
